Pirates announce 1st HOF ceremony
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that Saturday, Sept. 3, will be the date of the team’s inaugural Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The induction ceremony will take place early that afternoon on PNC Park’s Riverwalk. The first-ever Pirates Hall of Fame class will be honored on the field prior to the 6:35 p.m. game against Toronto.
Members of the inaugural class of inductees will be announced in early August.
Brown wins double in harness racing
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove horses to victory in the first two races during harness racing action Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. He won the first race with 5-year-old trotter Stickler Hanover, trained by Steve Schoeffel of Evans City.
He won the second race with 2-year-old trotter Inside Express in the horse’s career debut.
Also on the card, Shining Jewels, trained and driven by Aaron Johnston of Evans City, won a $7,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace.
