This last weekend was a whirlwind of activity! Between fireworks, fair events and parade floats, some county residents might be hoping for a relaxing weekend.

If that’s not you, Butler County has enough to occupy the adventure seekers, outdoor-lovers, theater enthusiasts and audiophiles all the same.

There’s still one more weekend of Big Butler Fair activities to look forward to. Head out to the Big Butler Fairgrounds at 1127 New Castle Road, Franklin Township. Fun lasts from Thursday until Saturday night, and you won’t want to miss a second of it.

— Thursday night in Cranberry Community Park’s Rotary amphitheater, 111 Ernie Mashuda Drive, country rock band Stampede will be performing at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for the other free concerts at the park this summer!

— Experience the live reptiles and amphibians of Western Pennsylvania at Odd Fellow’s Gazebo at Alameda Park in Butler Township. The hands-on presentation by April Claus begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

— Pittsburgh CLO’s production of “Kinky Boots” just opened, with performances Friday through Sunday this weekend. This upbeat show even features local talent. Don’t miss your last chance to see it. Tickets are available at pittsburghclo.org.

— Butler County Symphony’s free summer concert series will feature the Horn Section Quartet at noon Friday via Facebook or in person in the symphony building, 259 S. Main St.

— The Cranberry Township Farmers’ Market runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the municipal building, 2525 Rochester Road. The market will be available Fridays until September.

— The Freeport Theatre Festival, 2498 White Cloud Road, Leechburg, kicks off its 33rd season at 7 p.m. Friday with the show “The Curious Savage.” The show will run throughout July. For more information and ticket purchases, visit www.freeporttheatrefestival.org or call 724-295-1934.

— New and vintage collectible toys will be on display at the Butler Area Toy Show Saturday. Come browse, enjoy food and play around from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at General Butler Vagabond Hall, 138 Whitestown Road.

— Slippery Rock Community’s Farmers’ Market will be set up from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Gateway Park, Main and Elm streets. If you can’t make this one, the market occurs Saturdays through October.

— The American Legion Riders of Zelienople is hosting its ninth annual Benefit Ride featuring food, drinks and raffles and a ride at 11 a.m. Saturday. Ride funds contribute to building homes for veterans. You can sign up Saturday at the Zelienople American Legion, 308 W. New Castle St., and participate in just the picnic at 4 p.m. or as a driver or passenger during the ride.

— Concordia at Cabot’s free concert series continues at 4 p.m. Sunday with the six-sibling gospel and retro band, Echo Valley. The fun takes place on the Haven II patio, 148 Marwood Road, Cabot, Entrance 5. Tours of the campus will be available before and after the two-hour performance. There will be an intermission.

— Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center will perform my favorite musical “Memphis” July 22, 23 and 29 through 31. The bluesy, rock and roll show just announced that tickets are on sale at lincolnparkarts.org.

— Tickets are now on sale for Hobnob Theatre's production of “Much Ado About Nothing.” The Shakespeare in the Park show runs July 15 to 17 and 22 to 24 in Preston and Memorial parks in Butler. Visit hobnobtheatre.com for tickets and more information.
