Butler all-stars win at Clarion
CLARION — Winning pitcher Kayne Scott struck out eight in four innings, allowing only one run as the Butler Little League All-Stars defeated Clarion, 6-4, in a District 25 baseball tournament game Saturday.
Hunter Knapik struck out five over the final two innings to record the save.
Hunter also had a triple and RBI while Sam Vicari had two RBI and Nate Gilkey one. Brody Beggs had a double and three-run homer for Clarion.
Butler plays at Cranberry in Venango County at 8 p.m. Monday.
Mars grad White punts in playoffs
CANTON — Mars graduate Matt White booted a 59-yard ount and put both of his punts inside the 20-yard line for the New Orleans Breakers Saturday night in the team’s 31-17 loss to Birmingham in the USFL semifinals at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
The Breakers ended their season at 6-5. Birmingham (10-1) will play the Philadelphia Stars — a 19-14 winner over the New Jersey Generals — in the USFL title game next Saturday at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
