Wolak victorious on Isaly’s golf tour

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock resident Jacob Wolak carded a 1-under par 69 Friday to win the Isaly’s PGA Junior golf event Friday at Slippery Rock Golf Club.

Wolak topped a field of 24 golfers. Logan Monzak of Elizabeth and Kyle Rice of Leetsdale tied for second place, eight strokes back.

Dante Rossetti of Cranberry Township tied for seventh while Cranberry’s Will Zimmerman and Evans City’s JR Hufnagel tied for 10th. Butler’s Ethan Ellis and Tyler Figlioli tied for 13th.

Marlar nets win at Firecracker 100

BUFFALO TWP — Mike Marlar, 44, of Tennessee overtook race leader Ashton Winger on lap 4 and held off a late charge by Brandon Overton to win Thursday night’s preliminary Firecracker 100 feature at Lernerville Speedway.

Overton finished second, followed by four-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Earl Pearson Jr. Current series points leader Brandon Sheppard and Tyler Erb rounded out the top five.

Among the local driverrs, Michael Norris finished 13th, Matt Lux 19th, Colton Flinner 20th and John Garvin Jr. 24th.
