Butler hospital recognized for high quality of heart attack treatment

Butler Memorial Hospital received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain — MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for its heart attack patient care.

Butler was one of 240 hospitals in the nation to be recognized.

The award is bestowed by the college on hospitals that reach high standards and quality of care for heart attack patient treatment set by the American College of Cardiology.

“We’ve done it again,” said Dr. Richard Begg, medical director of BHS Cardiovascular Services. “For six out of the last seven years Butler Health System has received the prestigious American College of Cardiology’s Platinum Performance Achievement award. There are over 100 hospitals in Pennsylvania that participate in the NCDR, and Butler is one of only seven to receive this coveted award.

“It couldn’t be done without the efforts of so many people,” he said. “It is truly a team effort.”
