Butler County's great daily newspaper

Miller Minutes

It never fails to impress me how many Butler residents show up and show out for Main Street events. When that road shuts down, it’s teeming with locals supporting small businesses, eating, laughing and running into friends and neighbors.

To experience an event as a fellow resident during the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival last weekend was nothing short of wonderful. The shared passions of cars, spirits and snacks dominated every conversation I heard (or had).

Which reminds me, if you like any or all of those things, there’s plenty of events to accommodate you in the coming days.

Mingle on Main in Saxonburg starts at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (tonight), and features all local vendors. If you can’t make this one, you’ll have an opportunity on every third Thursday of the month until September!

The Big Butler Parts A Rama swap meet begins at 7 a.m. Friday and runs through Sunday at the Big Butler Fairgrounds, 1127 New Castle Road, Franklin Township. The auto parts meet is one of the largest in Western Pennsylvania.

Foodie Fridays and Moon Markets are back at 5 p.m. Friday on Main Street in Butler. Food trucks and live music will rule the parking lot at 205 N. Main St., and local vendors and businesses will be open along the sidewalk as well.

Take a ride on a merry-go-round when you see “Carousel” at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, 1 Lincoln Park, Midland, Beaver County, at 7:30 p.m. Friday. No, seriously. A carousel, carnival games and fair food will be available during the show’s run in the front circle of the venue. “Carousel” runs Friday through Sunday and June 24 through 26. For tickets and information, visit LincolnParkArts.org.
