Cold front to move through county this week
County residents should dust off their galoshes and slickers this week, as a series of showers and storms could sweep the county Tuesday through Friday.
According to Jared Rackley of the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh, showers and thunderstorms are likely early Tuesday and expected to linger.
“A cold front is moving through (Tuesday), that’s what’s bringing the rain,” he said. “Temperatures will be 10 degrees cooler than (Monday) and cool off during the night to around 56 degrees.”
A slight chance of showers remains through 2 p.m. Wednesday, with temperatures nearing 78 degrees in the day and 55 degrees in the evening. Otherwise, the forecast is partly sunny for majority of the day.
The Wednesday evening forecast estimates partly cloudy conditions. A thunderstorm is predicted Wednesday night between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., according to the weather service website.
Thursday’s forecast includes a high of 74 degrees in the day with temperatures dropping to 52 degrees at night and a partly sunny sky for most of the day with a 30% chance of precipitation.
Chances of showers increase to 60% Friday night, with daytime temperatures around 74 degrees and a low around 52 degrees. Showers also are predicted for early Saturday.
