Lernerville racing washed out Friday

BUFFALO TWP — Persistent rains through the morning hours with more rain forecasted for later in the day forced Lernerville Speedway to cancel Friday’s racing program.

Fab4 racing will return to the Sarver oval next Friday, along with Western Pennsylvania Speedweek for Sprints.

NC netters advance at PIAA tourney

HERSHEY — North Catholic’s doubles tandem of Brody Golla and Alex Garvey, along with singles player Nicolas Scheller, have reached the semifinal round of the PIAA Class 2A Tennis Championships at the Hershey Racquet Club.

Golla and Garvey won a pair of matches Friday, defeating Reece Girdgarry and Will Stillman of Lancaster Mennonite 6-3, 6-3 in the first round, then Amaan Makwana and Anthony Barczynski of Bethlehem Catholic 7-1, 6-3, 7-5. WPIAL champions Golla and Garvey will face District 10 champions Aravin Turaga and Nathan Kisiel of Fairview in the semifinal round Saturday morning.

Scheller defeated Armaan Malik of Conrad Weiser 6-0, 6-1 in the first round, then bested Deven Pandey of Saucon Valley 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. Also in singles play, Mars’ Josh Dunham dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Toby Frantz of Faith Christian Academy in the first round.
