Dogs will soon come to Community Park

The success of Cranberry Township’s dog pilot program in North Boundary Park, shown here in this file photo from 2019, means dogs will soon be allowed in Community Park.

CRANBERRY TWP — Leashed dogs will soon be allowed to enjoy some areas in Community Park following the success of a pilot program in North Boundary Park.

Beginning June 1, dogs will be permitted in designated areas in Community Park, so long as they are leashed. Dogs will not be permitted on sports fields or the Kids Castle Playground, but are allowed to attend Cranberry’s Thursday Concerts in the Park and events at the Rotary Amphitheater.

The expansion of dogs in Cranberry parks comes as a result of a successful Canine Ambassador program in the township’s North Boundary Park.

Cranberry’s K9 Connection group will, as was the case at North Boundary, serve as ambassadors, educating owners on the rules of having their dogs in the park. Waste stations and signage will be installed later in the summer, and Cranberry staff will review the Community Park pilot program to determine if it was a success.

The ambassador program’s expansion to Community Park will allow for more access for pups in the park, including the unveiling of a renovated Rotary Dog Park later this year.

Dogs will not be permitted in Community Park from July 12 through July 17 during the Cranberry Township Community Chest Community Days.

More information is available on the township’s website at cranberrytownship.org/dogpark.
