McNany, Schmidt named All-Region

Allegheny-Clarion Valley graduate Cami McNany and Freeport graduate Ashleigh Schmidt were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Region IV third team Monday.

Both players were instrumental in Penn State Behrend’s AMCC championship season. McNany ranked 13th in NCAA Division III with 1.41 RBIs per contest and Schmidt notched three wins in the circle in the conference tournament.

This is the first time that either has been chosen as All-Region.

SRU baseball hosts regional

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University baseball team will host an Atlantic Region game against Seton Hill at 11 a.m. Thursday at Critchfield Park.

The Rock (33-16) is the fourth seed in the tournament and carries a .332 team batting average, best in the PSAC this season. Seton Hill (31-17-1) is the No. 5 seed in the tourney.

Mars grad Cannon nets baseball honor

CRESSON — Mars graduate Doug Cannon, a relief pitcher for the Mount Aloysius College baseball team, has been named first team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference this season.

Cannon ranked third in the AMCC in wins and saves and posted a 2.60 earned run average.

Knoch grad Swarmer homers twice for YSU

YOUNGSTOWN — Knoch graduate Dylan Swarmer, a catcher for the Youngstown State University baseball team, homered twice in the Penguins’ 8-0 win obver Northern Kentucky Sunday.

It marked the second two-homer game of Swarmer’s collegiate career. The Penguins are 17-33 overall this season, 10-15 in Horizon League play.
