College notes

STEPHANIE CIMINI (Mars) scored five goals for Westminster’s women’s lacrosse team in a 17-6 win over Waynesburg.

ELYSE KIGGINS (Seneca Valley) made seven saves in goal for the Grove City women’s lacrosse team in a 17-9 loss to Washington & Jefferson.

LUKE VITTONE (Seven Fields/Eden Christian) had three hits, including a two-run homer, in Grove City baseball’s 8-1 win over Chatham in the second game of a doubleheader.

JESSE CLARY (Cranberry Twp./Eden Christian) had two hits for Grove City in that victory.

KRISTINA DeMATTEIS (Moniteau) is hitting .380 with a .602 slugging percentage, 41 hits, 23 RBI and 20 runs scored for Gannon’s softball team, which has qualified for the PSAC Tournament. KENNEDY DeMATTEIS, her sister, is 8-8 as a pitcher with the Golden Knights.

ALLISON DeJIDAS (Freeport) had a two-run double for Mercyhurst in a 10-2 win over Clarion in the first game of a softball doubleheader.

AUTUMN PETTINATO (Butler), competing for Clarion, hit a PSAC qualifying mark in the javelin at Shippensburg’s Paul Kaiser Classic. Her throw was 36.37 meters.

GABBY KUTCHMA (Seneca Valley), competing for Clarion, placed among the top eight in the 1,500 meters at the Paul Kaiser Classic. Her time was a PSAC qualifying mark of 4 minutes, 55.25 seconds, her best time of the season.

AIDEN DOMENCIC (Seneca Valley) took bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for Penn State Behrend at the Ashland Alumni Open. His time was 10 minutes, 14.40 seconds.

JAMES PARENTI (Moniteau) won the discus while competing for Grove City at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships. His throw was 151 feet, 10 inches. He took second in the shot put with a 45-7.75.

JONAH DeWITT (Seneca Valley) of Grove City placed seventh in the 5,000 meters at the PAC Championships with a time of 16 minutes, 0.59 seconds.

JUSTIN STEWART (Butler) hit a three-run homer for California (Pa.) in the first game of the Vulcans’ baseball doubleheader sweep of Clarion.

JACOB PATTON (Moniteau) of Westminster was named the Men’s Outstanding Overall Performer and Most Outstanding Track Performer at the PAC Championships. He broke a 28-year-old school record by winning the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.28 seconds. He won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.96 seconds and ran legs of the winning 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams. The x100 broke the school record with a time of 41.27 seconds.

ASHLEIGH SCHMIDT (Freeport) tossed a no-hitter for Penn State Behrend in an 8-0 softball win over Penn State Altoona in the first game of a doubleheader. She recorded her ninth win of the season, hitting a double and getting two RBI in the game.

CAMI McNANY (A-C Valley) had a double and three RBI for Penn State Behrend in that win.

JOCELYN McNANY (Seneca Valley) hit a three-run homer for Penn State Behrend in the Lions’ 12-3 softball win over Penn State Altoona in the second game of the doubleheader.
