D. Maxine Wetzel

Wetzel

D. Maxine Wetzel, 87, of Saxonburg, passed away on April 28, 2022, at the Magnolia Place of Saxonburg.

Born Feb. 9, 1935, in Sarver, she was the daughter of Lonnie R. Staley and Florence Staley.

Maxine worked as a mine clerk for Beth Energy Mines, and as a bookkeeper for the Saxonburg Ambulance.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sarver.

She enjoyed baking, reading, corresponding with friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons, Jeffery A. (Marcia) Wetzel of Saxonburg and Daniel L. (Jenny) Wetzel of Columbia, S.C.; her grandchildren, Scott (Melissa) Wetzel, Ben (Sarah) Wetzel, Cory Wetzel, Shawna (Jake) Neel and Justin Wetzel; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Hudson Wetzel; three sisters-in-law, Violet Wetzel, Jean Wetzel and Alda Barr; and her special cousin, Bob (and Cindy) Lang.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Wetzel, whom she married on May 14, 1955, and who passed away on Dec. 6, 1996; and her sister, Nancy (Howard) Halstead.

Maxine's family would like to thank Amie, Jackie, Christal and Jodi, and the fine staff of Magnolia Place, and Janet from Hope Hospice, for their wonderful care for Mom.

WETZEL — Friends of D. Maxine Wetzel, who died Thursday, April 28, 2022, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sarver, with the Rev. Robin Swinsburg officiating.

Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 210 Westminster Road, Sarver, PA 16055.
