We welcome the heat of the sun

Rising slowly over the horizon.

It mirrors the warmth in our hearts

When we remember our first born son.

Dearest William, a loving gentle giant

A sweet little boy with his rabbit and duck

In the middle between a sister and brother

Cowboy boots, super heroes and a red fire truck.

Your tender brown eyes that glowed with life

Help us to see the choices we need to make.

Taking time to listen to what others say

Leads our feet on the path we should take.

Remembering your willingness to find new adventures

With a pace that was sure and slow.

You were a loyal friend to those you loved

And sacrificed to those you would never know.

We will not forget though the memories fade

Of all that you were and all that you gave.

Though your sun has set and your life is done

Your legacy and your light will continue on.
