Before President Trump endorsed Dr. Oz for the Senate, I had written a check to Jeff Bartos. It was on the way to the post office when I found that President Trump had endorsed Dr. Oz.

I called Jeff Bartos: "Jeff, as a Republican, I feel duty-bound to support President Trump's choice for our Senate Seat and send the check to Dr. Oz."

Jeff said: "Let's see what Dr. Oz says." He asked Dr. Oz to call me.

He did. In our conversation, Dr. Oz said: "Bill, Jeff Bartos is a good Republican. He has earned our support. Send your check to him."

I was stunned!

In over a half-century of voting, I have never heard a candidate in any party say: "Send the money to another good candidate and not to me."

I understand why President Trump gave his support to Dr. Oz: Ethics. The very best Republican ethics.
