Joan Tolfa
Joan Elizabeth Tolfa, 63, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Chicora Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 6, 1958, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Donald McClelland and Dorothy (Kennedy) McClelland.
Joan was a member of Community Alliance Church, where she was a longtime Awana leader and active in its deaf ministry. She graduated from Slippery Rock University in 1981. She was also a writer and speaker at numerous Gideons International functions.
Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Walter L. Tolfa; two sons, Adam (Heather) Tolfa of Scio, N.Y. and Aaron (Megan) Tolfa of Renfrew; three grandchildren, Jaxson, Emma, and Luca Tolfa; four sisters, Sheila (Thomas) Powers of East Butler, Stacey Pellerin of Leeds, Maine, Joyce (Troy Collins) McClelland of Owings, Md. and Gail (James) Wright of Dayton, Ohio; and a brother, John (Robin) McClelland of Lucedale, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Patrick "Dugan" McClelland.
TOLFA — Friends of Joan Elizabeth Tolfa, who died Wednesday, April 20, 2022, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler. A memorial service will immediately follow with Rev. Dr. Dennis Krajacic officiating.
Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America at hdsa.org.
