9 brush fires in county Friday
According to Butler County 911 center, nine reports of brush fires were received throughout the day Friday, many in the southern half of the region.
Most of the fires were classified as small fires and took less than an hour to extinguish. The longest was a fire in Jackson Township that took about an hour to put out, according to officials.
The National Weather Service Pittsburgh Twitter account issued a wind advisory for Western Pennsylvania and portions of West Virginia and Ohio, which warned of winds of up to 45 miles per hour. The advisory was in effect from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday.
According to reports, one of the fires in Jackson Township was caused by a utility pole being blown to the ground.
