Town hall?

(I) attended the town hall county commissioner meeting last night. (I) was under the impression a “town hall” was a live question-and-answer session looking each other in the eye and having a conversation. The meeting started off with the commissioners revealing many problems and having excuses ready for all of them.

After an hour of this, they proceeded to several pre-submitted questions. We were not allowed to speak or ask questions and were warned by the solicitor no talking would be permitted.

The oppression of free speech was obviously intentional and my impression was “We heard what they wanted us to hear.”

(I) have also attended some of their regular meetings and simply asked if they took an oath of office upon being hired by by we the people. I was told no questions are permitted.

How are we to get answers? Free speech and transparency are apparently a dying concept between elected officials and citizens.
