Jean Morrow
Jean Elaine Morrow, 91, of Butler, died at 12:09 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Concordia in Cabot.
Born April 6, 1931, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Harold Mellott and Pauline Marie Wick Mellott.
Jean graduated from Hooker High School in 1949 and the Butler County Memorial Hospital School of Nursing on June 5, 1952.
She married her high school sweetheart, Darrell Alfred Morrow, June 7, 1952, and they were blessed with 56 years of marriage.
She loved being a nurse, working at Butler Memorial Hospital in the newborn nursery, labor and delivery, and medical surgical unit before becoming a visiting nurse with Dr. Nallathambi and Associates and VNA, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Butler, where she was active in the auxiliary, helping with many community outreach programs. Jean enjoyed serving community dinners and funeral luncheons, helping with vacation Bible school, knitting prayer shawls and collecting donations for families during Christmas. Jean was a dedicated member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Nursing Alumni, where she served as treasurer and secretary, and was named Nurse of the Year in 2006. She collected money for March of Dimes and Relay For Life.
Jean was a friend to many with her very social and spunky personality and enjoyed helping family and friends. She enjoyed reading, quilting and cross-stitching. She was known as a gentle, hardworking nurse, a good friend and neighbor and an amazing coconut cream pie baker among other desserts. Her faith, family and friends were very important to her. She loved unconditionally and was loved by many, and she will be sadly missed.
