Slippery Rock track 2nd at Wilmington Relays

Slippery Rock High School’s boys and girls track and field teams finished second and third, respectively, out of 11 teams at Saturday’s Wilmington Relays.

The Rocket boys took first place in four events. The high jump group of Nate Jesteadt, Ethan Folmer and Levi Premintine had a jump of 15 feet, 10 inches. Folmer, Premintine and Dustin Joyce won the long jump with a 15-9. Folmer, Joyce and Jesteadt won the triple jump with a 118-7.

The Rockets’ shuttle hurdle relay of Premintine, Danny Dinh, Eli Anderson and Folmer won that event in 1 minute, 07.7 seconds.

Winning events for the Rocket girls included the 4x1,600 meter relay of Marie Bickel, Samantha Frazier, Halie Halberg and Tessa Szymanski in 25 minutes, 45.3 seconds. The 4x800 relay of Halberg, Anora Robare, Bickel and Szymanski won in 11:34.

The high jump contingent of Gianna Bedel, Julia Coffaro and Laila Hackwelder won with a 14-6. The long jump trio of Bedel, Katie Book and Coffaro won with a 42-7.25.
