Chicora sex offender sentenced

A Chicora man was ordered Thursday to register as a sex offender for 15 years and sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a charge of disseminating photos of child sex acts.

At his sentencing in Butler County Common Pleas Court, Jeremy Matthew Morra, 21, was found to be a Tier 1 offender under Megan’s Law and ordered to register with state police for 15 years.

In addition, Judge Timothy McCune sentenced Morra to serve 6 to 12 months in prison, but immediately paroled him to serve six months of electronic monitoring followed by 36 months of probation.

McCune ordered Morra to report his address, employment, vehicles, internet identification and other information to police for 15 years. He also has to submit to fingerprinting.

State police filed charges against Morra in January 2021 after being informed that a tip from a social media site had been reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in January 2020.

The tip indicated that a person had uploaded an image of alleged child pornography in December 2019.

An IP address in the tip eventually led police to Morra's address, where they executed a search warrant and seized electronics from the defendant's bedroom.

Morra was charged with four counts of child pornography, criminal use of a communications facility and disseminating photos of child sex acts. All the charges are felony offenses. No action was taken on the other charges at Thursday’s sentencing hearing.

His attorney said Morra was evaluated and found not to be a sexually violent predator, and is receiving treatment.
