SRU baseball off to 10-0 start

SLIPPERY ROCK — Completing a four-game sweep of Saint Anselm Sunday at Critchfield Park, the Slippery Rock University baseball team is off to the best start in program history.

SRU’s 18-8 nine-inning victory improved the team’s record to 10-0. The Rock swept a doubleheader from Saint Anselm, 22-0 and 7-1, Saturday.

Winning pitcher Andy McClymonds benefited from a 21-hit attack Sunday. Alex Robenolt had four hits, including a home run, and three RBI, Joel Spishock contributed three hits and scored four runs. SRU had to rally from a 4-1 deficit in the third inning.

Robenolt had six hits in nine at-bats Saturday, including three home runs, seven RBI, four runs scored and two doubles. He has 10 hits in his last 14 trips to the plate.

Connor Hamilton had three hits Saturday, including a home run, five RBI and three walks. Joe Ehland produced four hits while Luke Trueman, Spishock and Eddie Morris all homered.

Trueman and Devin Dunn both improved to 3-0 on the mound, combining for 18 strikeouts in 13 innings Saturday.

The Rock moves into PSAC West play Friday, hosting Indiana (Pa.) for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Critchfield Park.
