Cranberry Artists Network shifts perspective for latest show

Artist Mark Panza will serve as juror of the Cranberry Artists Network's spring show, "A View from Above or Below."

Local artists will seek to portray the world through unique lenses at Cranberry Artists Network’s exhibit, “A View from Above or Below,” starting Friday in the Cranberry Township Municipal Building.

Fifty artists will use sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, photography, painting and pastels to show subjects from varying interpretations.

“Artists are always looking for different perspectives on subjects,” said Kathy Bischak, publicity chairwoman of the network. “We decided to have them look above or below, and it’s up to them to interpret that how they wanted.”

Most pieces will be for sale at the show, which will continue until April 14.

Juror of this show is Mark Panza, owner of Panza Gallery in Millvale. He will be judging the artwork for various awards as well as displaying some of his work, which includes photography and 3D light pieces from his photos.

“He’s a member of the Pittsburgh Society of Artists. He’s very knowledgeable, and he’ll bring something to display,” Bischak said.

The public is invited to a reception with the artists from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Bischak said the event will include an award ceremony and light refreshments.

While viewing the “Above or Below” show, the Back Hall Gallery will feature works by Lynda Kirby of Baden. Kirby’s show is running the entire month of March.

Bischak encourages folks to check out both shows, as the network features local artists from Beaver, Butler, Allegheny and Lawrence counties.

“If (you) want to see from a different perspective, this is a good show to see people looking from an unusual viewpoint in their pieces,” she said.
