SAXONBURG — Knoch High School will present the musical, “Newsies,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium, 345 Knoch Road. “Newsies” will be presented in person. There is no streaming option for the show, but a DVD will be available.

The producer and director is Jennifer Bronder.

Diane Beckstead is the vocal director; Ricardo Hayden Jr. is the pit orchestra director; and Jeannette Adams is the technical director and set designer.

Tiffany Seitz is the choreographer. Jennifer Walker is the costume designer. Scott Emmel is the sound designer and Carrie Yacono is the lightning designer.

Kelsey Miller and Kendyl Steighner are the student directors.

Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, “Newsies” tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man."
