Drive seeks to find bone marrow match for boy
There will be a drive to find a bone marrow donor for Jax Ramirez, a Seneca Valley cyber student, March 1 at Haine Middle School, 1516 Haine School Road in Cranberry Township. The “swab to match drive” will run from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. for school staff and from 4:15 to 7 p.m. for the public. Donors must be between 18 and 40 years.
There will be a second drive March 7 at Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School, 300 S. Pittsburgh St. in Harmony, March 7 with staff swabbing from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. and swabbing for the public from 4:15 to 7 p.m.
Jax is a 7-year-old boy with IPEX, a serious genetic disorder. Without a bone marrow transplant, children with IPEX are unable to grow and thrive.
