helps Behrend swimmers

ROCHESTER, NY — Slippery Rock High School graduate Barbie Cessar, a member of the Penn State Behrend women’s swim team, took home the silver in the 200-meter individual medley at the AMCC Championships Thursday.

Her time of 2 minutes, 16.32 seconds was good for fifth overall as the AMCC meet is being held in conjunction with the Empire 8 Championships.

District 9 basketball

playoff pairings set

The District 9 boys and girls basketball playoff pairings have been released.

Union’s girls host Port Allegany at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Class A Union’s boys travel to Otto-Eldred for a 7 p.m. game Friday.

Karns City’s boys host Coudersport at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Class AA. A girls Class AAA twinbill takes place Friday at Brookville as Moniteau plays Punxsutawney at 6 p.m. and Karns City faces Redbank Valley at 7:30 p.m.
