Ledford, Plank earn swim honors

GROVE CITY — Butler graduate Rachel Ledford and Slippery Rock graduate Emma Plank have received All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honors as members of the Grove City College swim team.

Ledford, a junior, gained first-team honors after taking first in the PAC in the 400-meter individual medley and the 400 medley relay. She was third in the 200 back stroke. Plank, a freshman, earned second-team as she finished second in the 1,650 freestyle and third in the 500 free.

County horsemen enjoy victories

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove a pair of horses to wins and Evans City father-son duo Gary and Shawn Johnston found victory as well during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Brown drove Who Made Who to victory in an $11,000 Conditioned Trot. He then guided LA Tomcat, an 8-1 long shot, to a win in a $7,000 Conditioned Claiming Pace.

Trainer Gary Johnston and driver Shawn Johnston teamed for a win with Dry Ridge Allie in a $9,000 Conditioned Pace.
