Butler Twp

Jan. 25 — Brandon A. Williams, 26, of East Brady, was charged with felonies burglary and trespass, as well as misdemeanors theft and possessing stolen property, related to cash stolen Nov. 23 from Holiday Inn Express, 203 N. Duffy Road, Butler Township.

Police said a hotel employee saw Williams behind the counter. She told officers Williams claimed he needed a razor, so she gave him one. She told officers she then discovered the cash box was empty.

Police said there was about $965 missing from the box, and surveillance video shows Williams going behind the counter to the snack area then into the office, but loses view of him beyond that point.

Cranberry Twp

Jan. 19 — Brandon M. Smith, 38, of Martinsburg, was charged with misdemeanors theft and possessing stolen property, related to a purchase made to his screen-printing business.

Police said a Cranberry Township resident made a purchase of custom-printed flags and other items at a value of $930, but the items were never received.

Police said Smith had already been paid and guaranteed delivery by Oct. 5. Police said the buyer tried to contact Smith multiple times but has received no responses.

Jan. 19 — Nimsi Chalcan, 23, of Cranberry Township, was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment, after calls were made Dec. 10 about a small child running across Peters Road, Cranberry Township.

Police said when they arrived at the location, they found a 5-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl alone in a house without adult supervision.

Police said Chalcan arrived about 25 minutes after police, and she told officers she had left the children alone only briefly to pick up her nephew.

Slippery Rock

Jan. 19 — Taylor M. Eckes, 22, of Petrolia, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a Jan. 6 traffic stop on South Main Street at its intersection with Cornish Drive, Slippery Rock.

Police said they stopped the vehicle for making an illegal turn. Police said they smelled alcohol in the vehicle, and field sobriety tests showed Eckes was impaired.

Police said a later blood test showed Eckes’ blood-alcohol content at .170%, and in Pennsylvania, a level of .08% or greater is considered intoxicated.

State Police, Butler

Jan. 19 — Michael D. Morrow, 28, of Pittsburgh, was charged with a first-offense DUI, stemming from a Nov. 15 traffic stop on Route 8 near its intersection with Maharg Road.

Police said they stopped the vehicle for crossing lines on the road and then stopping on the side of the road at an awkward time. Police said field sobriety tests showed Morrow was impaired.

Police said a later blood test showed amphetamine and marijuana in his system.

Jan. 15 — Casey L. Miller, 34, of Evans City, was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault, from an altercation with her mother Jan. 14.

Police said Miller admitted to punching her mother in the face. Police said the mother told officers she had pulled her daughter’s hair before she was hit.

Police said the mother was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for a broken jaw.

State Police, Beaver

Jan. 10 — Leroy D. Williams, 33, of Erie, was charged with a first-offense DUI, after officers stopped to check a disabled vehicle on Interstate 79, Jackson Township.

Police said Williams was out of the vehicle and trying to fix his rear bumper. Police said they smelled marijuana and alcohol coming from the vehicle, and field sobriety tests showed Williams was impaired.

Police said marijuana was then found in the center console, and a later blood test showed marijuana Williams’ system.
