Moniteau girls roll by Falcons

Abbey Jewart and Catherine Kelly both scored 11 points for the home team Warriors in a 60-17 victory over the Falcons Wednesday night. Moniteau sunk more field goals in the first quarter (10) than their guests would in total (7).

Allie Pry helped out with nine points and Victoria Pry seven. The hosts limited A-C Valley to six points in the second half.

North Clarion 39, Karns City 25 — Even with a productive fourth quarter, the host Gremlins fell to the Wolves. Having only scored 11 points through three frames, KC fell behind the Wolves and couldn’t claw back.

Boys Basketball

Knoch led wire-to-wire in putting away Indiana, 66-55, at home Wednesday night. For the Knights (5-12, 1-7), Ryan Lang bucketed 23 points, Keagan Fraser 15, and JJ Szebalskie 12.

The Knights sit two games behind Keystone Oaks for fifth-place in Section 1-4A. They play cellar-dwelling Derry Area at home on Friday.

Freeport 51, Deer Lakes 46 — Parker Lucas scored 12 points and Jason Kiljowski added 11 Tuesday night in the Yellowjackets’ victory.

Bowling

Julia Cummings rolled games of 184 and 181 and a 517 series as Freeport’s girls defeated Apollo-Ridge, 7-0. Mackensie Livingston contributed a 195 game and 501 series.

Mia Ament rolled games of 216, 214 and 200 for a 630 series in a losing cause for Apollo-Ridge.

Freeport’s boys dropped a 5-2 decision despite a 678 series from Colin Cummings that included games of 257 and 238. Garrett Calderone rolled a 217 game, Nick Cacchini a 211 and Connor Mamres a 202 for Apollo-Ridge.

In other action:

Butler bowling swept Shaler 7-0 Wednesday night, with Rocco Rice leading the boys with a 660 series and Natalie Coughenour rolled a 612 series for the girls.

Eric Devore and Marty Imhof rolled a 625 series and a 618 series, respectively, and the boys team bumped its record up to 7-1 with the victory.

Harley Kriess contributed with a 558 series and the girls improved to 5-3.

Butler split a pair of 7-0 decisions with Deer Lakes Tuesday night, the boys being on the winning side. Brock Hepler rolled a 675 series and 243 game. Eric Devore had a 668 series and 248 high game. Marty Imhof had a 606 series.

Natalie Coughenour led the Golden Tornado girls with a 646 series and 225 game. Kaylee Lipp of Deer Lakes posted a 257 game and 713 series.
