SV soccer coach earns major award

PITTSBURGH — Seneca Valley boys soccer coach George Williams has been named National Federation of High School Associations Section Coach of the Year in his respecvtive sport for the 2020-21 season.

The NFHS is divided into eight geographical sections. Williams won the award for Section 2, which includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, Washington D.C., Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. Williams is one of eight coaches from Pennsylvania to earn Section Coach of the Year accolades.

Williams guided the Raider boys to their first PIAA 4A championship in 2020. That team finished 17-1-1 and broke school records with 74 goals, 84 assists, overall record and highest national ranking (No. 11).
