William L. “Bill” Schall Sr., 85, of Grove City, a local businessman and founder of Schall’s Tire Sales passed away at home on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 22, 1936, at home at Blanket Hill near Kittanning. Bill was the youngest of five children to Ross and Hazel Schrecengost Schall. He grew up in Slippery Rock, and lived for a few years in Texas before building his home near Grove City.

Bill opened his tire shop in 1969, and worked there until his retirement in 2003. After retiring, he kept himself busy, attending auctions and having his yard sales. He was well-known for his large collection of antique toys.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marie Zurinski Schall; his seven children, Teri Pearson of Berkeley, Calif., Elaine Walden of New Mexico, Melanie Schall of Grove City, Dr. Tamara Al-Kasey of Toronto, Canada, Ann Schall of Grove City, Betsy Schall of Arizona and Bill Schall and his wife Lana, of Grove City; 15 grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Taylor Schall; a daughter, Patricia Helm; three sisters; and one brother.

SCHALL — Visitation hours for William L. “Bill” Schall Sr., who died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Hoffman officiating.

Burial will be held in Crestview Memorial Park.
