6:34 p.m. Dec. 22 — Joshua A. Rivera, 36, of Butler, was arrested and charged with misdemeanors drug possession, drug paraphernalia possession, fleeing from officers and resisting arrest following a traffic stop on East Jefferson Street in Butler.Police said they had received an earlier report of an intoxicated man in the parking lot of a gas station. They said Rivera's vehicle matched the description and showed signs of being operated by an intoxicated driver before police stopped it.Police said field sobriety tests showed Rivera was impaired. Rivera fled after police told him he failed the tests, and after officers caught up to him, he continued resisting.Following his arrest, police searched Rivera and found suspected cocaine and a needle. Blood test results are pending.

Dec. 27 — David E. Kalka, 62, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense DUI following a Nov. 26 vehicle crash on Butler Road.Police said Kalka lost control of his vehicle and it flipped on its side. Police said they smelled alcohol, and field sobriety tests showed Kalka was impaired.Police said a later blood test showed Kalka's blood-alcohol content at 0.157%, and in Pennsylvania a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.6:38 p.m. Dec. 23 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 358 in front of Wendy's.Police said Logan Miller, 32, of Butler, drove his vehicle into the back of one driven by Ken Kelminsky, 31, of Renfrew, who had stopped for traffic.Police said Kelminsky reported an injury of unknown severity, but Miller did not.10:14 a.m. Dec. 23 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 422 and North Duffy Road in Butler Township.Police said Randall Bachman, 62, of Butler, turned left in front of a vehicle driven by Daniel Stutz, 58, of Florida. Police said no one was injured, and Bachman was cited accordingly.5:53 a.m. Dec. 23 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 8 North near the Route 422 offramp in Butler Township.Police said Debra Steighner, 59, of Butler, failed to yield to a Peterbilt tanker truck driven by Edward Armbruster, 59, of Elrama. Police said neither driver was injured.12:08 p.m. Dec. 14 — Police responded to an incident at Butler Senior High School.Police said they investigated threats made by a 16-year-old male student. He later was cited for disorderly conduct.

Dec. 22 — Stefanie R. Kaufman, 35, of Slippery Rock, was charged with felony welfare fraud, related to benefits received between Jan. 1, 2020 through July 31, 2020.Investigators said Kaufman failed to report income her husband was receiving at the time of the benefits. Investigators said in doing so, Kaufman fraudulently received $2,900 in Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program benefits.

Dec. 22 — Craig L. Gaiser, 61, of Chicora, was charged with DUI, stemming from a Dec. 18 traffic stop on Route 422 near Old Route 422 in Summit Township.Police said they stopped the vehicle for a broken brake light, and while talking with Gaiser he slurred his words and struggled to produce his documents. Police said field sobriety tests showed he was impaired.Police said a breath test showed Gaiser's blood-alcohol content at 0.096%, and in Pennsylvania a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.
