Company lauded

Butler Technologies was deemed Employer of the Year by the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board this week.

The company on West Wayne Street has been in operation since 1990, and specializes in screen and digital printing of machinery in the medical industry, such as biosensors and keypads for medical devices.

According to Jason Hillwig, director of finance at Butler Technologies, this is the first award of its kind that the company has won.

“We're beyond excited,” Hillwig said Wednesday. “To get recognition, it means we're going in the right direction.”

Butler Technologies has 78 employees, and will be bringing on three more next month, Hillwig said. They try to create a fun culture in the workplace.

“We've shut down to have taco trucks come and we just had our company party at the 11th Frame (Bar and Grille),” Hillwig said.

According to Hillwig, the company is family-owned, and doing very well.

“We're very family focused, our familial culture is second to none,” Hillwig said.

The award was one of three presented by the board for having contributed to the workforce development system within the region. Also recognized were Projectile Tube Cleaning from Armstrong County and the Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana County.
