Ace raising funds for Children's Miracle Network
The Ace Hardware store in Butler was recently named 12th highest fundraiser in the country for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, but staff have set their eyes on making the top 10.
If the store can reach the top 10 by the end of 2021, Duracell will donate an additional $10,000 to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.
According to Mary Waggoner, part owner of the Butler Ace Hardware location, most donations are made when customers round up their purchases to the nearest dollar. Those funds go toward the foundation.
As of Tuesday, the Butler store has raised $28,567.73 for the cause. In the past weeks, Waggoner said the people of community have donated $4,000.
“I think we'll absolutely be in the top 10,” Waggoner said. “We're up against Houston, Chicago, really big markets for the higher numbers. The fight is going to be for the No. 10 spot.”
The Butler store is still asking community members to consider making a donation to help reach the goal.
Checks can be mailed to Ace Hardware's Butler location and made out to Ace Hardware. Those who would like to make a donation by phone can call the store.
Donations will be run through the cash register, and donors will receive a receipt that is acceptable for tax purposes.
