Holiday traditions are in the air
Zelienople’s “old fashioned” Holiday Parade will be featured as part of Miracle on Main Street in the borough at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2.
The parade will feature holiday floats, the Seneca Valley Marching Band and even Santa Claus.
Neal Jackson, treasurer of the Zelienople Business Association and parade coordinator, said the parade, as part of Miracle on Main Street, is truly an event in itself.
“It’s a Hallmark event, if you will,” Jackson said. “It’s a good free event for families to bring their kids to.”
The parade will begin on Beaver Street and head north on Main Street. Jackson said that immediately following the parade, Santa will be in his house at the corner of Grandview Avenue and Main Street to meet with children. He will then take visitors on weekdays from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m. running Dec. 10 to 23.
Miracle on Main Street will include all stores on Zelienople’s Main Street. There will be promotions, characters like Snow White and the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Pittsburgh Ballet, and even cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus. According to the Miracle on Main Street website, there will also be caroling up and down the street, a Christmas tree lightup and other performances during the event.
“There will be carriage rides, (live) nativities and reindeer as well,” Jackson said. “It’s a real experience.”
To preregister to participate in the parade, call 724-909-7014. Participants will line up after 5:30 p.m. on High Street near the library.
