Help available at VA health system
The Butler VA Health Care System aims to provide mental health resources and services for veterans from all eras of service.
Veterans are encouraged to call the Veterans Crisis Line at 800-273-8255 available 24 hours a day if they are experiencing a mental health crisis.
During business hours, veterans can also walk in to any VA facility to receive same day non-emergent care.
Veterans may also call the Butler VA Health Care System triage line at 878-271-6765 and ask for assistance.
Butler VA's Center for Behavioral Health offers evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy as well as psychiatric medication management, peer support services and whole health wellness programming to partner with veterans in their recovery. Specific to Vietnam veterans, the Butler VA offers a weekly post-traumatic stress disorder support group for enrolled veterans. The group focuses on coping skills and issues raised by veterans.
The Butler VA has a multidisciplinary staff of professional providers available to serve veterans and offer evidence-based psychotherapy, including cognitive behavior therapy for chronic pain, depression, insomnia and substance abuse, as well as cognitive processing therapy specific to PTSD and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
In addition, the VA has a number of mobile applications and internet-based resources designed for veterans and their families at www.ptsd.va.gov.
Mental health apps are also available in the app stores for Apple and Android devices.
