Bear hunter fatally shot in Warren County

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is investigating a fatal shooting of a hunter by his nephew while they were hunting for black bear Saturday in Warren County.

Gary R. Hunt, 64, of Corry in Erie County was killed in the incident, which took place at 12:05 p.m. on the first day of the statewide firearms season in state game lands 197 in Columbus Township, according to the commission.

Hunt was behind his nephew Bradley J. Cascavilla, 42, of New Castle as they were crossing a creek when Cascavilla tripped or slipped. His rifle discharged behind him and the bullet struck Hunt in the abdomen, according to the commission.
