Politicians waste time on Sesame Street

In a shocking bit of information, it was disclosed Monday that Big Bird and Elmo are now wielding a large amount of influence over the serious business of whether to vaccinate or not.

Good Lord, are we serious? Has it really come down to our esteemed elected officials now caring one way or the other about over-sized stuffed puppets and their position on world news and policy making?

So Big Bird, our fine feathered, bright yellow, giant children’s character has continued its lifelong position of getting vaccinated. May we assume that Oscar the Grouch is in the opposition, with Bert and Ernie sitting quietly on the sidelines and leaving the tie-breaker to save the world to Elmo?

Cookie Monster is turning his back on this one due to his obesity being a possible factor in his being at higher risk of COVID-19.

What in the world would Mr. Rogers think of this fine mess in his neighborhood? Come on people; find some reality. They are puppets. Only the ones young enough to believe Big Bird is real are at risk for being influenced by the show’s writers’ poor effort to disguise the hidden agenda here.

If you are willing and able to take advice from a stuffed puppet-bird (not to be confused with a bird stuffed with stuffing), you shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

The target age for Sesame Street viewers is 3 to 5 years. Are any of our elected officials that young, or do they just act that way at times? Do they sit and watch Sesame Street to make them better servants of the people? What’s next, Hallmark movies?

We all have a position on vaccinations. Many have come to believe the others are too blind to agree with us.

There are not two sides to the issue. Only our position and that of our favorite preschool character matter.

Shame on the one wrong side for trying to use Big Bird as propaganda and shame on the other wrong side for making it an issue. Don’t you have some real work to do like suing each other over elections, accusing each other of cheating on investments and, of course, pursuing the impeachment of each other?

This takes government shenanigans to a new level, one right below the intellectual level of Sesame Street fans. Good grief, Charlie Brown.
