Sentence Court

Defendants in criminal cases were sentenced Thursday in Common Pleas Court by Judge Timothy F. McCune.

Donovan Michael Philpot, 19, of Volant, was sentenced to six to 12 months in the county prison, but will be paroled after 10 days to serve the balance of the sentence on electronic monitoring, followed by 12 months of probation after pleading guilty to charges of burglary and false identification to law enforcement in separate cases filed by Butler City police in September 2020 and May 2020, respectively.

Kenneth John Gibson, 54, of Saxonburg, was sentenced to serve nine months in prison, but given credit for 279 days already served, followed by 106 months of probation after pleading guilty to his second, third and fourth driving under the influence charges. The sentence included fines totaling $3,300, 60 hours of community service and completion of alcohol highway safety school, a victim impact panel and litter pickup. The second DUI case was filed in December 2020 by state police, the third was filed by Buffalo Township police on Jan. 29 and the fourth was filed by Buffalo Township police on Jan. 30.

Michael Harter, 51, of Emlenton, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation and perform 25 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a charge of simple assault filed by Cranberry Township police following a February incident.

Debra Lynn Lape, 63, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation, pay $5,175 in restitution to State Farm Insurance and $212 in restitution to a resident after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal mischief filed by state police in February. The probation will be reduced to six months if she meets all conditions of probation and commits no other violations.

Charles V. Cubarney, 60, of Gibsonia, was sentenced to pay a $25 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of harassment filed by Middlesex Township police following a January incident.
