Woman injured in crash that blocked Route 19 lanes Friday

A woman was transported to a nearby hospital from this accident Friday on Route 19 in Cranberry Township.

CRANBERRY TWP — A pickup truck collided with the back of a Toyota Highlander on Route 19 near the intersection with St. Francis Way, blocking two lanes of traffic Friday afternoon, police said.

Lt. Spencer Shea of Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company said one woman was injured in the crash and transported to UPMC Passavant Cranberry.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. One lane of Route 19 was cleared after 2:30 p.m.

“We were just driving along just like normal, and she stopped out of nowhere. We skidded on the brakes until we hit her,” said Gage Layton, who was in the pickup truck.

The truck, which belongs to Johnny Sheerer Landscaping, had been headed to Wexford. The front of the truck was badly damaged, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, Cranberry Township Police and Cranberry EMS responded to the incident.
