Sechler Law Firm

Sechler Law Firm is located in Cranberry Township.

Like many businesses, Sechler Law Firm was blindsided by the pandemic and shutdowns last year.

For a law firm focused on helping people with wills and trusts, the whole ordeal was very frustrating. In one sense, it is hard to imagine a larger wake-up call regarding the need to do estate planning than a global pandemic.

However, just when people needed our services the most, we were ordered not to provide them. Pennsylvania requires certain estate planning documents to be witnessed and notarized in-person.

However, it was illegal for us to be in-person. So, what did we do? We took our own advice. We created a plan.

We first asked ourselves what we needed to have — what were our goals. After deciding on our goals, then we looked at available resources and what steps needed to happen to accomplish those goals. We took steps to accomplish those goals.

Last year, that meant providing free wills to first responders. It meant doing “steering wheel signing meetings” in parking lots with latex gloves and masks.

It meant creating online education content to replace our in-person workshops. It meant revising our systems and processes to facilitate working from home.

Some of these actions changed the way we will do things forever.

As a result, our firm is now growing fast. We’ve hired multiple support positions and added several lawyers.

We moved from our office in Mars to a much larger location on Route 19 in Cranberry Township.

We are hiring multiple positions right now and most of those positions are at least partially remote (something we wouldn’t have considered before the pandemic).

We are much better at providing our services to our clients because of the technology we learned to use last year.

Estate planning itself isn’t that different from what we went through last year.

The process involves first setting goals then becoming educated on the different options available to you. Then you make a decision regarding your plan and put it into action.

If you’re ready to put a proper plan in place for your family, check out one of our free upcoming workshops. We’ll help you with goal-setting and provide you with some options. Then, it’s up to you to decide what your custom plan looks like. It’s that easy.
