U.S. Rep. Thompson sees hospital stay Friday due to COVID-19
U.S. Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson, R-15th, returned home Friday night after a brief hospital stay related to COVID-19.
Thompson was released from the Walter Reed National Military Center after receiving outpatient treatment, according to a statement Saturday made on Thompson's Twitter account.
“He thanks the attending physician at the U.S. capitol along with the doctors, nurses and staff at Walter Reed for their concern and care,” the statement said.
Thompson announced Friday, also via Twitter, he had tested positive for COVID-19, after experiencing “cold-like symptoms.”
According to that statement, Thompson was vaccinated for the virus.
“Out of an abundance of caution, he is being treated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center,” the statement said.
According to Saturday's Tweet, Thompson plans to get back to work now that he's home.
“Thompson plans to work virtually from home next week,” the Tweet said.
