SR soccer gets win

Kingerski nets pair of goals in 3-1 victory

Nick Kingerski scored a pair of goals Tuesday as the Slippery Rock boys soccer team defeated Riverside, 3-1.

Hunter Berry tallied the other goal for the Rockets (11-3-2). Connor Wallace had three saves in goal.

Slippery Rock hosts Karns City Thursday night.

Karns City 6, Sharon 0 — All six Gremlin goals were scored in the second half. Bradon Slater and Myles McCully scored two goals each.

Colson Ritzert and Lathan Price also scored for Karns City (14-2). Luke Yasika got the shutout in goal.

Freeport 3, Burrell 0 — The Yellowjackets won this match 25-15, 25-12, 25-11. No individual statistics were provided.Keystone 3, A-C Valley 1 — The Falcons fell on the road Tuesday evening by scores of 25-27, 25-20, 19-25, 22-25.Meah Ielase recorded 17 kills and 14 digs while Jenna Stefanacci had 22 assists and 12 digs. Paige Klingler and Mackenzie Parks had 13 service points and 11 service points, respectively.A-C Valley 3, Venango Catholic 0 — Meah Ielase tallied 11 kills and 10 digs as the Falcons won by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-12 Monday.Jenna Stefanacci had 21 assists and three aces, Lexi Ruckdeschel five kills and Paige Klingler four kills.

Brody Simko scored two goals, but Butler dropped an 8-4 decision to Meadville at the Baierl Ice Complex. Colton Gregory added a goal and assist.Parker Worsley scored a goal with Adam Deal, Kyle Grasha and Trevor Ackleson adding assists. The score was tied at four after two periods before Meadville scored power play goals and added two empty netters.EJ Delaney made 21 saves on 27 shots for Butler, which plays Mars at 7:10 p.m. Monday at the Frozen Pond.Fox Chapel 1, Freeport 0 — Tyler Lang stopped 34 of 35 shots for the Yellowjackets in a losing cause.

Mars junior Blake Bertolo rounded out with a 6-over-par 77 and tied for 26th place at the PIAA Class 3A Boys Championship, which took place at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York. Butler sophomore Wyatt Kos finished with an 8-over 79 and tied for 34th. Kos was the first Golden Tornado golfer to participate in the state playoffs in over 15 years.Downingtown West's Nick Gross defeated North Pocono's Billy Pabst in the second hole of a playoff, with both golfers carding a 2-under-par 69.
