BC3 to break ground on new health building
The groundbreaking next week for the $9 million Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building project will be a real shot in the arm for Butler County Community College.
The college announced Thursday that shovels will pierce the earth between 3 and 4 p.m. Wednesday at the south end of the campus, where invited guests will look on.
The building is part of BC3's $18 million south campus project.
The Phillips building will be a high-tech facility that will house the college's Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health.
It will feature a hospital-like setting with state-of-the-art skills labs, simulation labs, classrooms and a lecture hall.
The 25,000-square-foot facility could open by 2023.
Speakers at the groundbreaking will be Patty Annear, dean of the Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health; Jessica Lasanick, instructor at the Shaffer school; Ian Miller, a graduate of the Shaffer school; Veda Reiser, a student at the Shaffer school; and Nick Neupauer, president of BC3.
