Karns City girls shut out Brockway

Karns City's Emma Dailey and McKenna Martin both managed hat tricks in the Gremlins' 7-0 girls soccer victory over visiting Brockway Thursday evening.

Alyson Fennell scored one goal and joined Dailey in contributing two assists. Martin added one helper.

Rossi McMillen stopped four shots for the Gremlins (10-2).

North Catholic 10, Ambridge 1 — Four goals from Jayden Sharpless highlighted North's domination of the Bridgers.

Makenzie DeBlassio and Lauren MacDonald both scored twice while Lily Karsman and Lauren Mealie found the net once.

The Trojanettes improved to 7-1 in section play and 11-1 overall.

In the WPIAL Class 3A Championship at Hannastown Golf Club, Butler senior Paige Scott just missed out on advancing to the state final by carding a plus-5 77 and tying for eighth place.Only the top seven move on to the PIAA event later this month in York.Seneca Valley's Lihini Ranaweera (80) and Madison Sharek (88) also competed.South Fayette junior Marissa Malosh won the district championship with an even-par 72.In the Class 2A event, Knoch's Maddie Boyer and Freeport's Lillie Snow both shot 97 and did not advance.Quaker Valley junior Eva Bulger shot even-par and won the WPIAL crown by four strokes. It is her third straight district title.

Freeport swept host Knoch by scores of 25-17, 25-9 and 25-10.Cassidy Dell dropped 11 kills and eight service points and dished out 15 assists for the Yellowjackets.Sydney Selker added nine kills, Erica Lampus five kills and Grace Beach 13 assists.Brynnae Coe had 20 digs and 16 assists for Knoch (1-8, 2-10).Freeport (9-1, 10-1) hosts undefeated Hampton Tuesday.The Yellowjackets hosted a varsity tournament last weekend and captured the championship.After going 8-0 in pool play, Freeport defeated Kiski Area (2-0) in the semifinals and DuBois Area (2-0) in the final.Cranberry 3, A-C Valley 0 — Lexi Ruckdeschel had five kills and 12 digs in this 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 loss for the Falcons (7-3).Paige Klingler tallied four kills and 11 digs, Jenna Stefanacci 13 assists, Bella Ielase nine service points and Baylee Blauser four kills and two blocks.Redbank Valley 3, Moniteau 1 — The Warriors salvaged the third set in their match with the Bulldogs, but ultimately fell in four—24-26, 25-5, 25-20, 26-24. No other information was available.West Middlesex 3, Slippery Rock 0 — The Big Reds made quick work of the visiting Rockets Wednesday evening, taking three straight sets—25-23, 25-6, and 25-17.Both Ava Lee Demidovich and Virginia Recchia recorded 20 digs for Slippery Rock. Recchia also had 25 assists to go along with Reagan Duffy's four kills.Clarion-Limestone 3, Karns City 0 — Clarion-Limestone downed the Gremlins in straight sets—25-16, 25-12, 25-22. KC's Rosie Carden recorded nine assists, a block, and five digs. Emma Johns had seven assists and three digs.

Cullen Birkes, Nick Kingerski and Gavin Siegfried all scored and Connor Wallace made three saves in Slippery Rock's 3-0 win at home over Greenville.The Rockets improved to 8-3-2.Butler 8, Baldwin 0 — The Golden Tornado got four markers from Landon Mohney and two from Aidan Wisda. Carson Knight, Gavin Varner, Aiden Soley and Jonah Doerr also scored goals.Butler bettered its record to 6-4 in section and 10-4 overall.Brockway 2, Karns City 0 — The Gremlins fell to 9-2 with this loss to the Rovers.
