Loughry, BC3 win WPCC golf titles

APOLLO — Butler County Community College's golf team made a clean sweep Saturday at the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference's individual championship at The Links at Spring Church.

Grove City High School graduate Troy Loughry won the men's individual title, carding a 1-over-par 73 Saturday and a 147 over two rounds. He beat out teammate Liam Kosior by eight strokes.

The Pioneers won the WPCC team championship — their seventh since 2013 — with a 646, easily beating out ruinner-up Penn Highlands CC's 810. BC3 golf coach Bill Miller was named WPCC Coach of the Year for the sixth time since 2013.

Freeport graduate Sarah Fischer won the WPCC individual women's championship in an uncontested field. Fellow Freeport grad Jack Mason was third overall in the men's field with a 157.

The Pioneers stayed undefeated, moving to 10-0 Saturday with a pair of 3-0 victories over Anne Arundel CC.BC3 won the first match 25-13, 25-15, 25-12. Morgan Jack had 27 assists , Lainey Tobolewski 19 digs, Madi Raypush 14 digs and six aces, Breanna Reisinger eight kills and Morgan Frishkorn seven kills.The Pioneers won the second match 25-15, 25-16, 25-12. Morgan Jack had 25 assists, Logan Barnhart 10 assists, Lainey Tobolewski 29 digs, Breanna Reisinger 13 kills and Claire Kile eight kills.BC3 plays Monday at Penn Highlands.
