Drug Take-Back event planned in Cranberry
CRANBERRY TWP — Cranberry's annual Drug Take-Back event will serve two community benefits this year.
The event, which will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23 in the rear parking lot of the municipal building, will accept both medications for disposal and used eyeglasses for donation, the latter of which will benefit the Cranberry Lions Club's Mission-Vision.
Medications can be disposed either in the original container, with identifying information removed, or loose in the disposal box. Liquid medications, such as cough syrup, will also be accepted, but should remain in the original containers with a tightly-sealed cap.
Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted due to the potential for hazardous bloodborne pathogens.
Vape pens and other e-cigarette devices will also be accepted, but with batteries removed. If the batteries cannot be removed, the township suggests checking with chain stores, which may properly dispose of them.
Used eyeglasses will not be disposed of; instead, they will benefit the Lions Club's donation drive. Any glasses can be donated, and they will assist the Lions Club in its goal of providing eyeglasses to those in need.
