Civil War action at mill

The 29th annual McConnells Mill Heritage Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 25 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Kildoo Picnic Area & Gristmill at McConnells Mill.The event, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Portersville-Prospect, celebrates the time period of 1852-1928, when the gristmill harnessed the power of the Slippery Rock Creek to grind wheat for bread. Attendees can tour the mill and see its original machinery, visit a Civil War encampment, participate in art and craft demonstrations, partake in different family activities, and enjoy live music.
