Washington beats Giants on late FG
The Washington Football Team survived a late turnover to defeat the rival New York Giants, 30-29, in NFL action at FedEx Field Thursday night.
Placekicker Dustin Hopkins booted a 43-yard field goal as time expired for the deciding points.
Just moments before, Hopkins had missed a 48-yard field goal, but the Giants were flagged for being offside and the kicker made good on his second chance.
With just over two minutes to play, Washington led 27-26 and was attempting to milk the clock, but Taylor Heinicke’s pass was intercepted by New York’s James Bradberry in Washington territory.
The Giants failed to pick up a first down, but Graham Gano kicked a 35-yard field goal to put New York ahead, 29-27.
Heinicke passed for 336 yards, two touchdowns and the one interception for Washington (1-1).
Daniel Jones passed for 249 yards and a score for the Giants (0-2).
