Dunkin', Diehl plan expansions in Butler Twp.

BUTLER TWP — Dunkin' and Diehl Volkswagen businesses have plans to expand in the Butler area.

At a Butler Township Planning Commission meeting on Tuesday, Diehl and Dunkin' submitted plans to comply with the commission's requirements before final approval to build.

Diehl Volkswagen of Butler submitted plans for a new addition of office space at 245 Pittsburgh Road and corrected issues the commission had with prior plans.

Diehl addressed concerns of landscaping, storm water drainage and parking. They also addressed PennDOT requirements for easier entrance and exits to the business.

Because of increased parking spaces, which would create more impervious surfaces, the storm water plan needed revisions, and Diehl complied. The plan still requires approval from the local sewage authority and the Department of Environmental Protection, a fire inspection, and final approval by the commission.

Dunkin' is establishing a new location at 134 Pittsburgh Road, where a Pizza Hut was located. Jesse Hines, commission zoning officer, commented on the redevelopment of the property.

“Its a good use of the property,” Hines said.

It will be both a drive-through and a standalone store.

With plans still to be submitted to PennDOT, Dunkin' plans to build by the second or third quarter of 2022.
