Karns City beats Girard
Karns City senior fullback Luke Garing scored three touchdowns as the visiting Gremlins defeated Girard, 35-17, in a high school football road opener Friday night.
KC rushed for 253 yards, led by Jayce Anderson's 84 yards on seven carries.
Nate Garing scored the other two touchdowns for the Gremlins, on a 43-yard run and a scoring toss from junior quarterback Eric Booher.
Karns City travels to Punxsutawney next Friday.
Kane 21, Moniteau 6 — David Dessicino threw for 178 yards and a touchdown for the Warriors in this road defeat.
Cooper Boozel caught 10 passes for 130 yards and the score. Matt Martino had 14 tackles defensively for Moniteau while Hunter Magerko had two quarterback sacks.
Kane intercepted three passes while getting the win.
Brockway 28, Union/A-C Valley 20 — The Falcon Knights trailed 28-6 early in the second half after having two touchdowns wiped out by penalties on their first possession.
Freshman quarterback Brayden Fox threw for 212 yards in the first half for Brockway, including three touchdowns. He threw for 254 in the game.
Union/A-C Valley rushed for 300 yards, led by Mike Card's 101. Dawson Camper ran for three scores and contributed 77 yards on the ground.
North Catholic 62, Hopewell 0 — This game was scoreless after the first quarter before the Trojans erupted for five touchdowns in the second quarter.
The mercy clock ran for the entire second half.
Avonworth 49, Summit Academy 14 — The Knights dropped their season opener on the road. It was Summit Academy's first football game since 2019.

Lucas Slear and Colin Patterson both carded a 38 as Butler (3-1, 1-1) defeated North Hills, 201-220. Ryan Porch added a 41.
Tyler Manfred paced North Hills with a 42.
